Pupil Premium and Sports Premium

Pupil Premium

What is the Pupil Premium?

The pupil premium is additional funding given to publicly funded schools in England to raise the attainment of disadvantaged pupils and close the gap between them and their peers. The term disadvantaged is used to collectively identify all pupils in receipt of the Pupil Premium funding.

Funding received: In the 2022 to 2023 financial year, schools will receive the following funding for each child registered as eligible for free school meals at any point in the last 6 years:

• £1,385 for primary-aged pupils

Schools also receive £2,410 for each pupil who:

  • has been looked after for 1 day or more
  • has been adopted from care
  • has left care under: a special guardianship order or a child arrangement order

For the financial year April 2022 to March 2023 we received £20,415

How we have used our Pupil Premium:

Pupil premium funding will be allocated following a needs analysis which will identify priority classes, groups or individuals. Limited funding and resources means that not all children receiving the funding will be in receipt of pupil premium interventions at one time.  Through the school’s rigorous monitoring, assessment and development programmes, day to day teaching is of a high standard across school which means all pupils including pupil premium pupils receive quality first teaching daily.

Sports Premium

What is the Sports Premium?

In March 2013 the Government announced that it would provide additional funding to primary schools to support the improvement of provision of PE and sport. The funding, allocated to headteachers in primary schools is ringfenced and can only be spent on PE and sport in primary schools. The headteacher and governors are accountable for the spending of the funding.

The premium must be used to fund additional and sustainable improvements to the provision of PE and sport. It is to benefit primary-aged pupils and to encourage the development of healthy, active lifestyles.
