Computing
What does computing look like at Barkisland?
In an ever-changing world of technology, we, at Barkisland, are committed to providing the children with the understanding, knowledge and skills to explore their own digital world. We ensure the children are equip with the relevant curriculum understandings in order to succeed throughout their journey with us and beyond.
At Barkisland, we promote a balanced computing curriculum in dedicated weekly lessons as well as incorporating computing cross-curricular. We nurture the children's learning, helping them to achieve their very best at whatever stage they are at. We ensure there are lots of opportunities for everyone to approach challenges with a resilient attitude and we encourage them to believe in themselves and their peers.
Our Curriculum
Computing is taught across the whole school, starting with our EYFS unit. The children are exposed to key computing skills such as problem-solving, listening skills and thoughtful questioning throughout their play and learning. The children build a secure foundation before moving onto KS1. Throughout KS1 and 2 the children are taught a variety of topics which contribute to the 3 strands; Digital Literacy, Computer Science and Information Technology.
